Melissa Santa-Cruz, MS
High School Counselor | Women's Empowerment Coach
I believe in living intentionally, fully, authentically, and fearlessly. This requires a lot of work mixed with a healthy dose of humor, love, and laughter.
I greatly enjoy walking the path with others, in the search for meaning…..joy….peace...and fulfillment, and think that one of life’s greatest gifts is our ability to constantly learn about ourselves from our experiences and from those around us.
Experience:
I have spent many years working with individuals facing adversity, first as a counselor in health care, and for the past several years as a high school counselor in an urban school district.
Beliefs:
My coaching beliefs center around the inherent abilities and strengths of each of us walking this earth, and in working together to recognize them, unlock them, and cultivate them..... understanding that it will look very different for each of us. I don’t deny the realities of certain truths, rather I work from a strengths based perspective in order to focus on what one can control, and how to navigate the sometimes chaotic and cruel world. I don’t believe everything happens for a reason, in fact, I believe there is often no good explanation for why bad things happen. I support individuals in finding clarity, meaning, and a path forward within the reality of that framework. I believe fiercely in boundaries and protecting peace.
Ideal Clientele:
-
Adolescents/ High Schoolers in need of support
-
Women in search of their authentic self
I especially enjoy working with high school aged students, as they maneuver a challenging emotional, social, and academic climate that is the reality of our society today. I also really enjoy working with women who may be juggling career, motherhood, relationships, and perhaps struggling to find their identity underneath it all.
I am located just north of Milwaukee, and love all that Wisconsin has to offer! In my spare time, you can find me somewhere in a kayak, spending time with my family, playing tennis or soccer, trying to make candles, or watching reruns of Ally McBeal. Or, I'll be somewhere outside, looking up at the clouds, trying to get back that feeling from when I was 7 and I could be exactly who I am, because I didn’t yet feel everything the world was telling me to be.
